Widgets

New widgets can be added via plugins, themes, or even by customizing your webhost . It’s not surprising if your installation, even if it’s brand new, has one or two extra boxes.

Dashboard
Go to the home screen, which we described above. You also have a shortcut for “Updates” . In this menu you can check for new versions of your theme, installation and plugins .
Posts

Media

By default, all comments you make on your posts will appear here. Approve relevant interactions, answer your readers’ questions, and look for legal interactions.
Delete what is toxic and mark as SPAM those ridiculous ads that have nothing to do with it. Don’t feed the trolls !
Appearance
The menus here only affect the look of your site, but do not affect its contents. You can choose and customize your theme here, as well as set what to display in the menus, widgets , header, and footer.
Plugins
Plugins are mini-programs that run on top of WordPress and add functionality to it .
Here you can search for cool plugins, manage the ones already installed, their settings and updates. Let’s take a few examples of cool plugins to use in the next chapter.
Users
Your blog can have multiple users, each with different roles and permissions. Each user will have their own username and password and will only have access to the features related to their role!
Awesome, isn’t it? Here you can invite writers, editors, and even other administrators to your blog.
Tools
The features here are control and optimization. From here you can import databases, export your site for migration.
If you’re not migrating from another platform, you probably don’t have much to do here at this point.
Settings
Here you can adjust how your blog behaves for both you and the end user. Go through all the links in this menu, because this is where you will set your time zone, date and time format, and also the type of permalinks.
The installation may have a button that is not listed here. It is normal for themes and plugins to create areas with their own settings and functionality. Most of the time, there is nothing to worry about!
