Have separate versions for mobile and desktop

One way to structure your site to make it mobile-friendly is to use different URLs for desktop and mobile versions have separate versions.

For example, you can use “example.com” for desktop users. And “m.example.com” for mobile users.

This approach allows you to tailor content and design specifically for mobile devices, ensuring a more user-friendly experience.

But if not implemented correctly, using separate URLs for mobile and desktop versions can lead to duplicate content issues.

How to avoid duplicate content

The first step in addressing duplicate mobile phone numbers content in SEO is to find out where it occurs on your site (if it occurs at all).

Here are two ways to find them:

Audit your site to identify duplicate content

Regularly checking your site for duplicate content will help you fix problems early on.

You can manually crawl your pages if your site is small enough. But that’s inefficient. And you might miss some pages.

Therefore, we suggest you run your site through Semrush’s Site Audit tool .

To get started, open the tool, enter your URL in the search bar, and click ” Start Audit .”

Next, you’ll be asked to configure basic crawl settings. This includes setting a limit for pages checked and an audit frequency. You can follow this step-by-step guide to setting up your audit to learn about the settings.

When you’re ready, click ” Start Site Audit .”

When your audit is ready, you will see a panel similar to this:

Click the ” Issues ” tab to see a the only way to meet during a global complete list of technical issues and the number of pages they affect.

Next, enter “duplicate” in the search bar above the list of technical issues.

Site Audit flags pages as duplicate content if their content is at least 85% identical. It also flags duplicate titles and meta descriptions.

If your domain has duplicate pages, you’ll see a ” Why and how to fix it ” link on the same line.

Click on it to see a pop-up window with more information about the problem at hand and how you can fix it.

Monitor indexed pages in Google Search Console

Google Search Console (GSC) is a free tool you can use to see if all of your pages are indexed. And which ones aren’t.

The tool also tells you why pages are not indexed. And one of those reasons is duplicate content.

Next, click on the ” Pages ” tab in the ” Indexing ” section of the left menu.

You will see a graph that tells you sault data how many pages are indexed. And how many pages are not.

Scroll down to see the reasons why your pages were not indexed.

To get a list of your duplicate pages, click on the ” Duplicate, Google chose a different canonical than the user ” error if you have it.
